When it comes to picking the right commercial convection oven, you have lots of different options. So many, in fact, that I decided to build a web page devoted to helping you narrow things down and find the right oven at the lowest possible price, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do today.
The first thing you need to ask yourself is this: can I afford a brand-new oven or do I need to look for the best used option. Many people may not realize it but there are in fact many used deals to be had if you don’t have the cash for a new model. Of course if we all had our way we would always buy a brand-new oven, but sometimes that’s just not possible. On this page I’m going to be focused mainly on new models though I may drop a hint or two about how to find a great used deal as well.
There are several things that separate a regular oven from a commercial one. For the most part commercial ovens are much larger and are used primarily in restaurants and places like that where many people are served food. They will often heat up quicker than a regular oven and this is one of the benefits of using them.
If you are running a restaurant and looking for a new oven be sure to discuss and confer with your head chef beforehand; because like it or not, many times a chef will have a particular preference for a specific oven and will even have trouble working with some. I’ve known some chefs who would flat-out refuse to use certain ovens for a variety of reasons, some rational and some not so rational. The point is be sure to consult with whoever’s going to be using the oven before you run out and spend thousands of dollars on something that may not be suitable.
Many people search online for special deals for all types of merchandise and ovens are no different. Ironically though the Internet may not be the best place to purchase your oven. It may be great for researching and finding information but for most cases it’s very important for you to purchase your oven from a local retailer whom you trust or at least whom you trust to be there tomorrow. The reason why this is the case is because high-end ovens that breakdown often need special attention; be that in the form of ordering special parts or simply having somebody available to come out and fix the thing.
I’ve had ovens in the past that I didn’t buy from stores locally and I found it very difficult to have these ovens serviced when I needed them to be because the people that work at the stores are simply unfamiliar with the brand that I had bought because I hadn’t purchased from them. Many times these ovens are quite complicated inside and it’s not simply a matter of being able to fix one type of oven so you should be able to fix another type of oven. Many times if you’re not familiar with the model you cannot do the repair work easily or at all.
Now I’m not sure how much of that was retribution for not purchasing from their store to begin with and how much of it was actual real-world difficulty but the point remains the same either way. If at all possible you should always buy your commercial convection oven locally, and by locally I mean anywhere within a 50 to 100 mile radius.
